This is my first time to write the Director’s Corner of VOICE Mail as its new and first Filipino Director. I have been asking myself: “Why has the Lord brought me to VOICE?” The Lord did not give me an epiphany or spoon-fed me the answer to my query. The answers came bit by bit, droplet by droplet until my glass was sufficiently full. VOICE is the Lord’s ministry to teach values to young people so they can at least become good citizens (values becoming virtues) and/or become the desired good disciples (values leading to faith). For the Lord cares for the Philippines despite its idolatry, corruption and immorality.
VOICE can also be an avenue wherein the churches can work together in love and unity as they overcome their petty differences. In several instances, different churches from different denominations join together harmoniously to adopt a common school thereby displaying oneness in the Body. For the Lord loves His Church despite her warps and woofs.
The importance of VOICE was shown to me when the Prime Minister of Britain attributed the cause of the nationwide riots perpetrated by its young people not to race, politics or economics but to “people showing indifference to right and wrong…people with a twisted moral code…people with a complete absence of self-restraint.” In short, to lack of moral values.
Why VOICE? Because the Lord cares for the Philippines and loves the Philippine Church. This is His work. |
